Kristaps Porzingis: ‘Karl-Anthony Towns and I Are Two Big Men That Can Kind Of Change The Game’

Karl-Anthony Towns and Kristaps Porzingis went No. 1 and No. 4 overall in the 2015 Draft and went on to have monster rookie seasons. According to a new story from ESPN, the two are keeping an eye on how the other is playing and developing a friendship off the court.

Before the season started, the two exchanged text messages about how big of a year it was for both of them:

“I said to him, ‘This is a big year for us. We have to start taking over and taking that next step,’ ” Porzingis recalled in an interview with ESPN.

And Towns’ reply?

“Exactly. Let’s do our thing. Let’s have a good season,” is how Porzingis remembers it.

Both standing at 7-plus-feet tall with the ability to stretch the floor and handle the rock, KP and KAT are ushering in a new era of big man. Their skillset isn’t lost on Porzingis, who thinks their style of play can “change the game:”

“We are two big men that can kind of change the game,” Porzingis said.

Towns and Porzingis will play each other twice this week—tonight in Minnesota and on Friday in New York.
