After winning MVP on Sunday night, Russell Westbrook picked up right where he left off by dropping 34 points and 10 assists in a 15-point rout of Dallas. Serge Ibaka was tremendous in the paint; he scored 21 points and pulled down an astounding 22 boards. Kevin Durant shot just 4-14 from the field but still managed a decent statline with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Anthony Morrow added 16 points off the bench for OKC.
Both the Thunder and Mavs made roster moves prior to Thursday’s matchup. In a three-way deal, OKC dealt Reggie Jackson to Detroit and Kendrick Perkins to Utah. The Thunder received DJ Augustin and Kyle Singler from the Pistons and acquired Enes Kanter and Steve Novak from the Jazz. Meanwhile, Dallas signed Amar’e Stoudemire.
Clippers (36-19) 119, Spurs (34-20) 115
The second game of TNT’s Thursday night double-header was close ’til the very end. Jamal Crawford (26 points, 5 assists, 2 steals) and CP3 (22 points, 16 assists) hit big buckets down the stretch to give the Clippers the advantage. The Spurs employed a Hack-A-DeAndre strategy, which proved to be pretty successful; Jordan went 10-28 from the charity stripe. Despite his free throw woes, the big man finished with an ill 26 points, 18 rebounds and 3 steals.
The Spurs led by nine in the third quarter, but Chris Paul led a Los Angeles comeback. Tim Duncan (30 points, 11 rebounds) and Tony Parker (21 points, 13 assists, 2 steals) could only do so much. The rest of San Antonio lacked the same type of production.
