Dwight Howard’s Soccer Itch Is Scratched

You might remember when the World Cup had just started that I ran some videos of how Dwight Howard and adidas were working together to get American fans involved in following the event. This past weekend in Atlanta, those efforts culminated in D12 hosting a World Cup viewing party at the King Plow Arts Center.

Winners from adidas’ interactive Facebook contest made their way to the ATL from 10 different cities, via a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-style contest and spent the day with Howard, watching Spain pull out a dramatic 1-0 win.

Here’s a brief explaination on the Wonka-isms of the event:

“adidas Soccer Facebook contest winners were selected through an interactive campaign on www.Facebook.com/adidasSoccer. Fans from 10 cities visited their local adidas stores to retrieve envelopes with gift cards and one lucky fan at each location received a trip for two to the adidas Soccer World Cup finals viewing party hosted by Dwight.

As basketball fans and players, in Howard’s case, everyone was presumably comfortable complaining about the questionable reffing.
