WATCH: Sheryl Swoopes’ Hall of Fame Speech

In her Hall of Fame induction speech, Sheryl Swoopes was open about the struggles of her mother’s battle with cancer. But she was also extremely proud of where the game’s been and where it’s headed, largely because of her influence.

“I’m proud to be a WNBA pioneer,” she says during the speech. Swoopes, the first player in WNBA history to get a contract, averaged 15 points a game throughout her career in the W. She won four titles, three MVPs and three DPOYs.
