Seton Hall’s Isaiah Whitehead Out Indefinitely With Broken Foot

One of the crowned jewels of the 2014 recruiting class will miss an undetermined amount of time due to a foot injury. Seton Hall freshman Isaiah Whitehead—the Pirates’ highly regarded five-star shooting guard prospect out of Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn—suffered a stress fracture in his right foot which will sideline him indefinitely. Prior to the injury, Whitehead led the team in assists and steals, was second in scoring and third in rebounds.

From ESPN:

Highly touted Seton Hall freshman Isaiah Whitehead is going to be sidelined with a stress fracture in his right foot.

The Big East Conference school announced the injury Wednesday, saying an MRI found that the shooting guard has a stress fracture of the second and third metatarsal bones. Doctors will evaluate Whitehead’s foot weekly.

The school said the injury did not occur at any specific point, but was caught early, preventing further damage. No timetable was given for his return.

The conference’s preseason choice for rookie of the year, Whitehead has averaged 11.9 points and 4.3 rebounds, starting all 11 games. He has a team-high 37 assists.
