Taylor Dislocates Thumb in Fight at KU

Kansas sophomore guard Tyshawn Taylor dislocated his left thumb after an incident with the school’s football team on Tuesday evening. The Lawrence World Journal is reporting that shortly after 6:30 p.m., Taylor and some other members of the Jayhawks basketball team got into an altercation with the football team, in which punches were thrown out in front of the Burge Union. A source told the paper that the fight broke out as one group entered the building while the other one exited. So far the only reported injured has been the 6-3 Hoboken, New Jersey, native. Taylor is expected to return in three to four weeks. He was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and released later on in the night. Head coach Bill Self was out on a recruiting trip at the time of the incident. It is unclear what caused the fight or whether disciplinary actions will be taken against those involved. Taylor averaged close to 10 points and 3 assists per game last season as freshman.
