Matt Howard Signs With Olympiacos (Greece)

Former Butler forward Matt Howard will begin his professional career in Greece, joining the prestigious Olympiacos club team in the fall. Via Euroleague.net: “Howard (2.03 meters, 22 years old) arrives from Butler University, where he averaged 16.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 35 NCAA games last season. He helped Butler to reach the NCAA Tournament title game in each of the last two seasons, losing against Duke in 2010 and Connecticut in 2011. In his four seasons at Butler, Howard helped the team win three Horizon League titles and earned Horizon League Tournament MVP honors in each of the last two years. ‘It is a big decision for me but coming to a team with such great tradition as Olympiacos was easy. Players like Josh Childress and Rasho Nesterovic were here, so I know this one of the best teams in Europe and always has high goals,’ Howard said. ‘When you go to the next level, you have to prove you belong. I come to Olympiacos to help and learn from my teammates and our legendary coach.'”
