A few weeks after being informed that freshman Will Barton may not be academically eligible to suit up, Memphis got great news this weekend; Barton will be allowed to play. ESPN clarifies: “Memphis freshman Will Barton has been declared eligible for the 2010-11 season, coach Josh Pastner said in a statement on Friday night. ‘Obviously, we are very pleased with the decision from the NCAA that clears Will for competition this season,’ Pastner said. ‘We [university] continued to provide additional documentation to the NCAA for its review, which is part of its routine process.’ Barton, a 6-foot-6 guard, averaged 20.8 points at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire in 2009-10.”
