2014 Nike Rose Classic Championship Recap (PHOTOS)

Last Sunday afternoon, some of the top female high school prospects in the country showcased their talents in the Fall 2014 Rose Classic championship. And just like the prior weekend in South Jamaica, Queens, where Nike decked out the entire gym and hooked up the title contenders with fresh gear for the IS8 championship, the Swoosh did the same in Fort Greene, Brooklyn for this talented group of ladies.

This match featured Exodus NYC, led by Marina Mabrey, younger sister of Notre Dame star Michaela Mabrey, who went up against the NJ Sparks. It was a hard fought game between both teams, but it would be Exodus who would emerge victorious, with a final score of 66-63

The Sparks were in control of the game early, taking a 37-33 lead into halftime. Marina Mabrey’s 12 second-half points, however, helped lift Exodus to the victory. Mabrey led all scorers with 22 points, ultimately taking home MVP honors. The youngest Mabrey sister, Dara, also suited up and poured in 4 points for Exodus. Guard Niya Johnson also added in 16 points for Exodus, and Guard Alexia Douglass added an additional 13 points.

The talent was plentiful on the court on Sunday. Marina Mabrey, who was a member of the USA U18 National Team in 2014, has verbally committed to join her older sister at Notre Dame. Guard Niya Johnson will be graduating from Nazareth High School in 2016. Guard Alexia Douglass has committed to Fordham University, and Erica Meyers has committed to Providence.
