With the iconic Brooklyn Bridge standing tall above them, some of America’s top HS ballers put on a show in front of a standing-room only crowd at the Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn, NY, last night. Showing off their leaping abilities, creativity and shooting-touch from behind the arc, the invitees proved why they are regarded as the best in their respective classes. When all was said and done, Theo Pinson, a 6-6 senior wing at Wesleyan Christian (NC), took home the dunk contest title after flying high over his own mother (Photo #1) for the one-handed jam. Other notable finishes included one from Seventh Woods, a 6-1 sophomore point guard at Hammond School (SC) who lobbed the ball to himself before putting it through his legs off the bounce (Photos #5 & 6) and then flushed it down with the right hand. Derrick Jones, a 6-6 junior wing at Archbishop Carroll (PA), also had the crowd buzzing after jumping over two seven-footers (Photo #3) for a one-handed slam. In the three-point contest, Devin Booker, son of former NBA player and University of Missouri standout Melvin Booker, put on a shooting clinic en route to capturing the hardware, including an impressive 19 points in the first round. Above are some very cool shots from Friday night’s action.
