Former St. John’s Star Rysheed Jordan Arrested for Robbery, Attempted Murder

Some bizarre news out of Philadelphia, where former 5-star recruit in the Class of 2013 and one-time St. John’s basketball star Rysheed Jordan was arrested yesterday on robbery charges and for attempted murder.

More from the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Bail was set at $750,000 for Rysheed Jordan, 21, at a predawn hearing, according to a court docket sheet that lists him as Rasheeb Jordan and includes the name he is known by as an alias. He also was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses.

Jordan was taken into custody early Wednesday following a car and foot chase during which police said they recovered a handgun tossed by Jordan.

Following further investigation, police said they identified Jordan as a suspect in a robbery and shooting in North Philadelphia last week and charged him.

The incident occurred about 4:15 p.m. Friday on the 1400 block of North 26th Street, police said.

Officers responding to a call for a shooting found only several shell casings and a car with bullet holes.

A short time later, the driver of a black Kia Sorrento flagged down a Housing Police lieutenant at 33rd Street and Girard Avenue and said he was just a victim of a robbery and his friend the car had been shot in the right arm.
