Nike Elite Youth Unveils Basketball Academy Slated for June 26-29 in LA

The Swoosh announced today that it has combined its three elite skills academy into one, forming the inaugural Nike Basketball Academy. Taking place at the Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hanger from June 26-29, it will bring the nation’s top HS and college guards, wings and bigs under the same roof, where they’ll be instructed by Nike’s top athletes, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis.

In an effort to create a premium and seamless basketball experience with the game’s elite, Nike has launched the Nike Basketball Academy. Comprised of some of the best high school athletes and select college basketball players, The Academy allows the sport’s brightest players to compete against the best competition and learn from the games greatest players.

 

The Nike Basketball Academy will take place at the Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar from June 26-29 in Los Angeles, CA. Shifting from three skills academies to one, The Academy will be a tailor-made experience for guards, wings and bigs all under one roof. By creating a seamless experience, the Nike Basketball Academy will allow the best players in the country (both high school and college) to compete against the best competition while receiving guidance from Nike Basketball’s biggest stars; LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis to name a few. Additional basketball legends will be on hand to serve as mentors and coaches for the weeklong session with the top high school and college players in the country.

As part of the experience, participants will go through a professional basketball combine, off-court workouts, drills, film sessions and 5-on-5 competition.

 

Prior to the Nike Basketball Academy, the Elite 100 will once again host the top 100 underclassmen for a four-day basketball and life skills camp in St. Louis, MO. Focused on helping younger prospects improve their game, the curriculum involves many prominent speakers and instructors.  This year’s event will take place June 11-14.

 

The EYBL Finals, the culmination of the Elite Youth Basketball League, will once again be held at the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, SC at the legendary Riverview Park Activities Center from July 8-12 during the first summer NCAA Open Period.  In it’s sixth year, the EYBL features 40 teams from the United States and Canada. With regular season sessions already completed in Hampton, VA, Lexington, KY and Houston, TX, the final session will take place at the Maple Grove Community Gym outside of Minneapolis, MN over Memorial Day Weekend.

 

During the second NCAA Open Period, the 9th annual Nike Global Challenge will take place July 16-19 at Whitney Young High School in Chicago, IL. The event will showcase the top 40 players from the EYBL representing different regions in the United States as part of an eight-team tournament against four of the top junior teams from around the world.  Those International teams include Canada, China, Dominican Republic, and Pan Africa.
