Kemba Walker doesn’t know when he’ll get to make his NBA debut. He does know what he’ll be wearing on his feet when he does, though.

“Under Armour was just a perfect fit,” says Walker, the No. 9 overall pick in the June’s NBA Draft, who signed a multi-year deal with Under Armour earlier today. “They love what they do, and I love what I do.”

Fresh off of a phenomenal Junior year at UConn (23. 5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 4.5 apg, First-Team All-American, Most Outstanding Player NCAA Tournament) that saw him lead the Huskies to 32 wins and a national title, the 6-1 Walker is hoping to help his new teams, the Charlotte Bobcats and Under Armour, attain similar success.

“I like starting from the ground up, and that’s just how Under Armour is,” says Walker. “Me, Brandon [Jennings], Cam [Newton], Julio Jones and the rest of the guys we’re gonna try our best to build it up.”

For his part, Kris Stone, Director of Sports Marketing for Professional Basketball at Under Armour, says the brand’s been focusing on Walker for a long while.

“In my eyes and in the eyes of this company, since I’ve been here, around three years, he’s been somebody we’ve always looked at and thought, Hey, we can do some really creative and great things around Kemba.”

Walker joins Brandon Jennings and Greivis Vasquez, two fiery and flashy guards, as the face of Under Armour Basketball.

“[Being one of the faces] is the reason why I chose Under Armour,” says Walker. “If I would’ve went anywhere else, I definitely would’ve gotten lost.”
