Kawhi Leonard Scores 31 in Spurs’ 13th Straight Road Win

Led by Kawhi Leonard’s 31 points Tuesday night, the San Antonio Spurs registered their 13th consecutive road victory with a 105-91 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Patty Mills added 15 points off the bench, while Pau Gasol finished with 11 points and seven rebounds to help San Antonio remain perfect away from their home floor.

Last season’s Golden State Warriors set the NBA record with 14 consecutive road Ws.

Per the Express-News:

“By this point, it’s clear that he’s a confident player,” said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. “He knows he’s got a green light. We call his number every now and then, but he does a lot of stuff on his own. He’s getting pretty good in pick and roll, so he just advances his game every year a little bit in some different fashion. Tonight he did the same thing – pulled up, knocked down a couple threes and has confidence that they’re going to go. Special young man.”

From the second to the fourth quarter Leonard scored 31 of the Spurs’ 86 points. Asked his mindset as he took over the offense, Leonard responded: “Just trying to stay focused to the next possession. Trying to win the basketball game.”

Leonard finished the game with his sixth 30-plus point game this season.
