Kicks: Kobe VI Draft Day Available

by Chris O’Leary / @olearychris

Kobe Bryant is out of the Playoff picture, but his shoes live on.

The always popular ‘Draft Day’ colorway of his signature Zoom Kobe VI is now available at Eastbay for $129.99 US.

For those of you who maybe weren’t around when the Mamba’s fangs were just cutting his young gums, Kobe was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, 13th overall in 1997 out of Lower Merion High School. Word was that Kobe didn’t want to rock teal and purple in the League and he was quickly dealt to the Lakers for Vlade Divac. The rest, well, you know.

In addition to being a cool colorway, the Draft Day shoe lets you wonder what might have been. What if it had somehow worked out and No. 8 was in Charlotte on opening night in 1997? Would the Hornets have stayed in Charlotte? Would they have become a championship team with a Kobe-Glen Rice combination? Would Anthony Mason have kicked a young Mamba’s ass in practice? There’s only one definite in all of those questions and I think we know which one it is.
