Blake Griffin Drops 40 Points in Loss to Warriors (VIDEO)

Despite a strong, 40-point performance from Blake Griffin, the LA Clippers went down 110-106 Tuesday night to the visiting Golden State Warriors.

Griffin finished 16 for 25 from the field as his nemesis Draymond Green sat out due to shin inflammation.

BG also grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out five assists, but it wasn’t enough against the red-hot Dubs.

Per the OC Register:

“They kind of flipped the switch, but we flipped off the switch in my opinion,” Coach Doc Rivers said. “Once we let them get loose and start making shots, that’s what they are – shot makers – it’s hard to turn them off. […] I thought we lost our way offensively during that stretch.”

The Clippers ran out to a quick lead which quieted the hundreds of Warriors fans inside Staples Center – for at least 24 minutes. The Clippers led, 53-46, at halftime and seemed poised for a knockout victory. […] Before the game, Rivers said the Clippers usually unravel when they fail to trust each other offense. They had trust issues in the third quarter.

Golden State seemed blasé about the game initially, falling behind by 17 points. This game, though, meant little to their postseason future. Golden State already has locked up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. […] Meanwhile, the Clippers continue to push for a better seeding in the playoffs. With the victory, the Clippers are 11/2 games out of third place and two games out of second.
