Duke’s Five-Star Freshman Harry Giles Has Knee Surgery, Out 6 Weeks

Regarded as one of the top incoming freshmen prospects in the nation and expected to be a lottery pick in next june’s NBA Draft, Harry Giles is coming in with a lot of buzz to his name. But his collegiate debut might have to be delayed after undergoing arthropscopic surgery on his left knee on Monday. He’s had history with knee injuries, tearing his ACL twice in high school. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Harry!

Duke freshman Harry Giles, ESPN’s top-ranked player in this year’s recruiting class, underwent arthropscopic surgery on his left knee Monday, the school announced. He had surgery on his right knee in June.

 

“We’re very pleased with the outcome of today’s procedure,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a press release. “This is the right step for Harry at the moment as it will help him be 100 percent going forward. Harry has done a tremendous job in rehabilitation over the last year and I’m sure he’ll continue to do the same after this procedure.”

 

The release stated that the typical recovery time for the procedure is six weeks. Duke opens the 2016-17 season Nov. 11, when it hosts Marist.
