Kentucky Lands Five-Star PF Edrice Adebayo

One of the most explosive bigs in the Class of 2016, 6-10, 240-pound Edrice Adebayo of High Point Christian (NC), announced live on ESPNews’ Mike & Mike show this morning his college commitment to John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats. The five-star power forward, ranked among the top 10 prospects in the senior class, was also considering NC State and Auburn. The athletic big, known for his constant play above the rim, averaged 32.2 points, 21 rebounds and 4.5 blocks last season as a junior at Northside High in Pinetown (NC). He is commonly regarded as the second ranked power forward in the nation after Duke-bound Harry Giles.

“They are a winning program,” said Adebayo of UK live on ESPNews. “They’re just a great all around environment.

“I’m just worried about winning the national title,” he added later on. “Whatever I need to do for Kentucky, I’ll do it.”

Just last week, Kentucky landed Katy (TX) native De’Aaron Fox, a candidate for the top ranked point guard in the 2016 class title. The Wildcats also have a 2016 commitment from another five-star power forward in Wenyen Gabriel. Four-star power forward Sacha Killeya-Jones and New Zealand center Tai Wynyard have also pledged to join head coach John Calipari in Lexington next fall.
