Klay Thompson Explodes for 26 Second Quarter Points (VIDEO)

Yep, he did it again.

Klay Thompson went nuts during the second quarter Monday night, erupting for 26 points in the period, and finishing with 37 points in the first half.

Thompson finished with a game-high 42 points in just 30 minutes of work, as the Golden State Warriors held off the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 111-107.

Per the SF Chronicle:

With home-court advantage locked down throughout the playoffs, Thompson decided to lock up one of the most memorable quarters of the season, pouring in 26 second-quarter points during the Warriors’ 111-107 victory over the shorthanded Grizzlies. […] “He had only 26 in the quarter, so it really wasn’t that impressive to me,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr joked. “I’ve seen 37, so whatever, Klay.”

Thompson, who had his NBA-record 37-point third quarter against Sacramento on Jan. 23, was nearly as special against a Memphis squad that had beaten the Warriors in 12 of their past 15 meetings. […] He made 10-of-13 shots from the floor in the second quarter, going 6-of-7 from three-point range and providing some of the season’s most indelible moments, and finished the first half with 37 points. […] “I’m at my best when I’m moving well without the ball,” Thompson said. “I can score whenever I want, I feel like, but it’s best when it’s within the rhythm of the offense and the ball has moved from side to side.”

Thompson finished with 42 points in 30 minutes, leading the Warriors (66-15) to their 21st win in their past 24 games. The Warriors are the 14th team in NBA history to win at least 66 games, and they’re the 11th team to record at least 38 home wins. […] The Warriors have won 17 consecutive home games and 22 straight against Western Conference opponents. Having already posted a 19-game winning streak at home this season (Nov. 13-Jan. 25), the Warriors became the league’s first team to have two home winning streaks of at least 17 games.
