LeBron James Dominates the Pistons With Triple-Double (VIDEO)

For the second time this season (and this month), LeBron James registered a triple-double, pounding the visiting Detroit Pistons with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 11 dimes.

It was LeBron’s 39th career triple-dip.

James playfully insisted on remaining in the game, which was a blowout by the end of the third quarter, until he had reached the milestone.

Per the NEOMG:

The back-and-forth included an exchange or two between James and Cleveland coach David Blatt — toward the end of the third quarter and early in the fourth of the Cavs’ 109-97 win over Detroit in the penultimate game of the regular season — while the ball was in play. […] The debate, if you will, transpired after James had registered 20 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds.

It lasted until James corralled rebound no. 10 — with 8:09 left in the fourth quarter — to record his second triple-double this season and 39th of his career. James, who last posted a triple-double eight days earlier against Chicago, finished with 21 points and 11 assists to go with those 10 boards. […] The issue, or so it seemed, was this: James was stuck on 20, 11, and nine from the 3:48 mark of the third quarter. The Cavs were up 23 at the time, and led by as many as 24 before closing the period with a 20-point advantage.

With all that’s at stake this weekend when the postseason arrives, was it really worth it for James to stay out there until he grabbed that last rebound? […] “Sometimes you want to have a little fun, too,” Blatt said. “LeBron had played a heck of a game. He wanted a shot to get the 10th rebound and I was happy to oblige.”
