Born in Kingston, Jamaica 49 years ago today, Patrick Aloysius Ewing Sr. had quite a storied NBA career. After leading the Georgetown Hoyas to three NCAA title appearances in four years—which included beating Houston University in the 1983-84 Championship—Ewing was drafted by the New York Knicks as the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft. Patrick went on to win Rookie of the Year, and the rest is history. An 11-time All-Star, Ewing anchored the Knicks for 15 seasons, leading them to two NBA Finals appearances. Now an assistant with the Orlando Magic, Ewing is on another mission: to become an NBA head coach.

In the meantime, let’s rewind, reflect, and pay homage to an NBA legend. Above are 10 clips from Ewing’s tenure on the hardwood; there are a few single-play highlights, some notable single-game performances, and a few complete mixes. Hope you enjoy ’em all. Happy born day, Patrick!
