Russell Westbrook Sprints for Game-Winner to Beat the Wizards (VIDEO)

Turning on the after-burners, Russell Westbrook raced by everyone Wednesday night, and dropped in the game-winning hoop in a thrilling 105-103 road win against the Washington Wizards.

The OKC Thunder guard eluded Bradley Beal in overtime for the critical basket.

Kevin Durant scored a game-high 34 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists; Westbrook finished with 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Per CSN Washington and The Oklahoman:

“I got caught ball-watching,” said Beal, who was switched to cover Westbrook when John Wall picked up his fifth foul with 1:28 left in regulation. “He just beat me backdoor. I tried to deny the ball. I shouldn’t have tried to deny him. I definitely take the blame for this game. Everybody else had their man. I lost focus for a little minute and he got away from me and he ended up hitting the game-winning layup.”

“We denied (the ball) too far to half court and he got a full head of steam,” (John) Wall said of Westbrook. “You got to make him catch the ball out instead of coming towards the basket.”

“I tried to find a way to get a shot,” Westbrook said. “My job was to attack the basket and that’s what I tried to do.” […] “I was going to try to end the game myself,” Durant said. “Coach drew up a great play and Russ ran to the halfcourt line and they threw two at him and he was able to get free. And we said whoever catches it be aggressive. So it wasn’t just a play for me. It was a team play and Russell made a phenomenal, phenomenal move.”
