Someone Bought Stephen Curry’s Used Mouthguard for $3,200

It’s no secret that people buy weird shit, especially when said shit belonged to a celebrity or professional athlete. At a California-based auction held on Sunday morning, a mouthguard used by Steph Curry in a December 2015 game was sold for right around $3,200. The high price tag was actually lower than the expected $5,000 the mouthguard was predicted to attract.

The used mouthguard wasn’t the only basketball-related item sold at the auction. A pair of Converse sneakers belonging to Dr. J sold for just over $8,500 and Dwyane Wade’s Final Four ring sold for just under $10,000.

A Stephen Curry mouthguard found by a fan at a Golden State Warriors road game in December was sold for $3,190 on Sunday morning in an online auction.

California-based SCP Auctions handled the sale. In June, SCP vice president Dan Imler said he expected the mouthguard to sell for at least $5,000.

The mouthguard, which has Curry’s name on both it and the carrying case in which it was found, was one of several quirky items sold in the auction.
