WATCH: Grizzlies Woo Mike Conley With ‘Conductor’ Video

The Grizzlies have expressed confidence about re-signing free agent point guard Mike Conley, but just to make sure, they produced a video to let him know just much he’s loved in Memphis.

Conley, 28, is referred to as “Our Conductor” in the two-minute, 44-second film.

Craig Brewere directed the spot, which took a month and a half to shoot.

Per the Commercial Appeal:

Brewer said the film — along with trying to sway Conley as he approaches Friday’s start of NBA free agency — was intended to have an “emotional” impact on viewers by connecting the beauty and grace of Conley’s athleticism to the similarly awe-inspiring work of dancers and musicians.

“Part of the idea was to show that Memphis arts and Memphis athletics are not mutually exclusive,” said Brewer, who last year directed a similar film as part of the Grizzlies’ recruiting campaign for then-free agent Gasol. He re-signed with the Griz on a five-year deal worth $113 million.

Both films were produced by Memphis filmmakers and Brewer associates Morgan Jon Fox and Erin Hagee, with Brewer as director and executive producer. […] “Our Conductor” was shot over the past month and a half, with the majority of the action captured May 12 on the FedExForum court. The crew traveled to Los Angeles to shoot (Justin) Timberlake’s introduction, marking a reunion of Brewer and the pop superstar who had one of his first significant acting roles in Brewer’s “Black Snake Moan” (2005).
