WATCH: LeBron James Surprises Special Olympian During Game

Aaron Miller, a 16-year-old Special Olympian, got the thrill of a lifetime Tuesday night as LeBron James surprised him with a handshake and a pair of kicks.

James caught wind of the ceremony honoring the kid during the Cavs’ 89-77 road win against the Boston Celtics, and walked over to pay his respects.

LeBron led Cleveland with 24 points in the W.

Per the Akron Beacon Journal:

LeBron James was in the huddle watching Cavs coach David Blatt diagram a play when he looked up to the Jumbotron to see 16-year-old Aaron Miller on Tuesday. He didn’t know all of Miller’s story, but he heard enough to know he wanted to say hello.

James walked over and shook a shocked and elated Miller’s hand and rubbed the back of his head. After the game, he gave Miller his game shoes. […] Miller was born with severe brain damage and was being honored as part of the Celtics’ “Heroes Among Us” program. Doctors believed Miller would be physically and mentally paralyzed for life, but he instead competes on the basketball and golf teams at his Boston-area high school. He has endured thousands of hours of surgeries and therapy all in an effort to paly sports and was named Tournament MVP of the Greater Boston Basketball League last spring.

“This game is so much more than just basketball,” James said. “I was just showing him my respect and gave him my shoes. And it was well received by him. It’s not for you guys (the media), it’s not for the fans. It was for him.” […] James was touched that Miller was wearing LeBron Soldier 8 FLYEASE, James’ special Nike shoes designed for people with disabilities. They don’t have laces, but instead have one Velcro strap and can be slipped on with just one hand.
