WATCH: Reggie Bullock Discusses The Murder of His Transgender Sister

In July of 2014, Reggie Bullock received phone call saying that his transgender sister Mia Henderson, born Kevin Long, was stabbed to death in Baltimore.

Henderson’s body was so badly mutilated that she was barely identifiable. About a month later, police were able to apprehend the suspect from DNA evidence found under Henderson’s fingernails.

On Friday, the Pistons forward appeared on The Herd radio show and shared the heart-wrenching story of Mia’s death, and how he looked up to his sister (then brother) early on…

“He taught me how to be yourself. He was happy with being who he was. He wasn’t worried about how others felt about him.

“A person who can isolate the whole world out and not care about other people’s feelings is a strong person to me.”
