Wizards to Wear ‘All Black’ vs the Celtics

Update (January 23): Celtics star Isaiah Thomas said that the Wizards plan to wear all black before the game is “cute.”

More from CSN Mid Atlantic:

“That’s cute that they’re wearing all black,” Thomas said, according to CSNMidAtlantic.com. “I just kind of laughed [when I heard]. … It’s not like it’s a Game 7.”

After the last Wiz-C’s game, Otto Porter Jr accused Boston of “trying to play dirty.” Thomas disagreed, saying that the team “plays hard:”

“[Porter’s comments] went through this ear and out the other because we don’t play dirty, we know that,” Thomas said. “I think a lot of teams around this league know we don’t play dirty, we just play very hard. Like I said before, it may seem dirty because we play so hard, but we’re not a dirty team.”

Original Story: Tempers flared the last time Washington and Boston met, and prior to tonight’s rematch, the Wizards will be “wearing all black.”

Bradley Beal convinced his teammates to don the battle-ready outfits.

Should be a fun one.

Per CSN Mid-Atlantic:

“We’re wearing all black to the game. You know where we’re going with that,” [Kelly] Oubre said. “We’re ready for whatever. We’re wearing all black to the game. It’s a memo that the team is giving away. We’re ready for whatever, man. Round 3. Let’s get it.”

“All black everything,” guard John Wall added.

The Wizards appear to be sending a symbolic message to the Celtics, whom they have clashed with numerous times over the past year. Last January, Boston guard Marcus Smart broke Bradley Beal’s nose and gave him a concussion. […] Apparently, wearing black was Beal’s idea.
