Chris Wallace Agrees To New Contract

According to the Commercial Appeal, Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace, architect of the Pau Gasol and Zach Randolph trades, has agreed to a new contract to stay with Memphis. “Wallace’s three-year deal, signed in 2007, expires June 30. The Commercial Appeal reported last Thursday that both sides were close to agreeing on a contract extension. Wallace confirmed in a text that he agreed to terms at the start of the weekend. ‘I’m signed, sealed and delivered,’ he wrote. Griz owner Michael Heisley said five months ago that he wanted to keep the team’s front office and coaching staff intact. Head coach Lionel Hollins signed a three-year contract extension last month. Wallace’s future with the franchise never was in doubt. He works directly with Heisley on major decisions but doesn’t have the autonomy that Wallace’s predecessor, Jerry West, required.”
