Allen Iverson Had a Choice: Practice or Turkey

by Marcel Mutoni

You can probably guess which one he picked. The turkey, of course! And who can blame him?

The Detroit Pistons had a practice scheduled yesterday during Turkey Day, and A.I. was having none of it. Naturally, he’ll receive a slap on the wrist for the no-show.

From the Detroit News:

“I got to get up at 9 a.m. and practice on Thanksgiving,” Iverson said.

Well, apparently not. Iverson was the only Piston to skip practice Thursday and that didn’t go over too well with Curry.

“He will be fined, a heavy fine, and he won’t start (Friday against Milwaukee),” Curry said. “Whether he plays or not, we will make that decision internally (before the game).”

It’ll certainly be interesting to see just how far Curry takes this; the only way to truly send a message to Allen (and the rest of the team) would be to keep him out of the game tonight completely.

The irony in this is all of the recent talk in Detroit about how the team (which is .500 since the AI trade) needed more time together – say, in practice – to get their defensive schemes down pat. Whoops!
