Andray Blatche Unlikely to Play Again This Season

According to Andray Blatche’s head coach, Randy Wittman, the Wizards’ big man is likely to sit out until next season, bringing an end to his nightmare of a year. Reports the WaPo: “As Wittman made the announcement at the morning shootaround, Milwaukee Bucks Coach Scott Skiles walked by and coughed as he shouted, ‘B.S.!’ After sharing a laugh with Skiles, Wittman joked, ‘A lot of it, huh?’ Wittman then repeated, ‘Probably slim, at this point.’ Blatche hasn’t appeared in a game since going scoreless with a turnover, a foul and a rebound in five minutes on March 18 in Memphis. He was shut down two days later to address what the team termed as ‘conditioning’ problems. He has lost some weight over the past month but is doubtful to see the floor again. Blatche appeared in just 26 games, missing nearly six weeks with a strained left calf, and averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds – the first time in his career that his production didn’t increase from the previous season. He also shot a career-low 38 percent from the floor and recently accepted blame for the regressing this season. With the Wizards scheduled to have just two practices between now and the end of the season, it’s probably also safe to rule out Rashard Lewis returning as well. Lewis hasn’t played since the all-star break.”
