Andrew Bynum’s Uncertain Status for Game 5

Bynum said his knee had swelled to the size of a basketball last night, but he (and his teammates) insist that he’ll be ready to go on Sunday: “It’s a little bit frustrating, but I’m going to play on Sunday, play hard on Sunday,’ Bynum said after he played just 1:50 of the second half in the Lakers’ Game 4 loss to Boston. Bynum compared the swollen knee to ‘a basketball’ and is looking forward to two days of treatment. He also said his personal doctor, David Altchek, is expected to come to Boston from his New York office to examine the knee, although Bynum doesn’t expect tests to show anything further than additional fluid in it. Bynum said the pain isn’t the problem, but the swelling was so great after Game 3 and early in Game 4 that his muscles couldn’t fire properly to move and jump.”
