Avery Johnson Needs a More Aggressive Brook Lopez

Lopez‘s new coach has been less than impressed with the big fella’s recent performances, to say nothing of his body language. From the NY Daily News: “The Nets (2-4), who host Cleveland on Wednesday, fed Lopez the ball and got very little in return in Florida, except blowout losses and an empty feeling heading into the third week of the season. ‘Needs to improve,’ coach Avery Johnson said about Lopez’s body language in Saturday’s 101-89 loss to Miami, which alternated between mopey and frustrated. ‘These two nights are not nights we hope to have from him. We have to do a better job of getting him better shots. He has to be more aggressive. We’ll look at these last two games and he’ll bounce back.’ The 7-foot Lopez was short when talking about his performance in Miami, which included zero field goals after his layup with 11 minutes remaining in the second quarter. The dud followed his 10-point, 3-for-17 effort in Friday’s loss in Orlando, where Howard reinforced his standing as the top center in the league. ‘Not terrific,’ Lopez said.”
