Big Baby With Big Start

by Marcel Mutoni

In this jaded sports world of ours – hello, Mitchell Report! – we sometimes forget that these grown men are playing a child’s game and still experience the smallest of joys from simply being out on the floor.

Glen “Big Baby” Davis made his first NBA start last night, and before leading the C’s to their 18th win, he could hardly contain his excitment prior to tip off.

“It was unbelievable,” said Davis, who had 10 points and six rebounds in the third quarter.

“It was a dream come true to start in the NBA. Unbelievable. I was thinking in my head, ‘Calm down, big fella. Calm down.’ I couldn’t breathe. I had to come back and play my game. It was awesome.”

Talk about a breath of fresh air.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to resume praying that David Ortiz’s name doesn’t appear in Mr. Mitchell’s report.
