Byron Scott May Shift Kobe Bryant to Point Guard

During the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s 98-95 win against the visiting Sacramento Kings, Kobe Bryant took over the Los Angeles Lakers’ point guard duties, and proved effective as the team’s floor general.

Head coach Byron Scott liked what he saw, and says he may ask Kobe to lead the offense more and more going forward.

Bryant, as you might expect, isn’t fazed by the shift in position.

Per the OC Register and LA Times:

“I even talked to him about it,” Scott said. “I said, ‘I’m thinking about it, but I’m not there yet.’ So yeah I have thought about it.”

It’s all the same to Bryant, who said after the win that “nothing changes” when he plays point guard. […] “Just my position on the floor changes,” he said. “That’s all.”

Bryant will spend some time at point guard in at least two of the Lakers’ next three games, Scott said. […] “You will see it again. I thought it was very effective,” he added. “I feel real good when the ball is in his hands. No. 1, he can get his own shot, obviously. No. 2, he can create shots for his teammates.”
