Carmelo Anthony: ‘I Need Some Help’

The Denver Nuggets are in the midst of a Playoff meltdown, and their leader tells the assembled press that he can’t win the series against Utah alone: “Nuggets acting coach Adrian Dantley was critical of Anthony’s nine turnovers after the game – – ‘He’s just got to read the defense a lot better,’ Dantley said – – but almost all the questions in Anthony’s direction were about trying unsuccessfully to carry his team. ‘I’m trying to do everything I can in my power to beat the Jazz,’ Anthony said, ‘but at the end of day, I need some help. I’m not sitting here pointing fingers or nothing, but as a unit we’ve got to do this together. I can’t do it by myself.’ The Nuggets have gotten so little out of Martin, Nene, Smith, Andersen and Ty Lawson in this series that they find themselves one game away from elimination. Williams had as many assists (13) in Sunday’s game as the Nuggets did as an entire team. ‘Their confidence is sky high right now,’ Anthony said of the Jazz, ‘so we’ve got to try to do everything in our power to try to take that away from them.”’
