Carmelo Anthony Says ‘Nobody Can Come Between’ Him and Kristaps Porzingis

The media in New York made it seem like there was friction when the Knicks selected Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, but all along, Carmelo Anthony has embraced his new teammate and seems excited about their future together.

Melo insists that, despite the pressures that come with playing in Gotham, nothing will break their bond.

Anthony says one must remain level-headed through all of the ups and downs of a long season.

Per Yahoo! Sports:

“I know what we have as teammates. Nobody can come between us despite what anybody says. Nobody,” Anthony said.

When asked if he expects Porzingis to become an NBA star, Anthony said: “He can be. This is the first [25] games of the season, but he has the opportunity to do that.”

“When things are going good, they put you way up there,” Anthony said. “When things are going bad, they kick the chair from underneath you. Those are experiences that he is going to have to go through. But if I can be there and be that guy who can grab him up and say everything is going to be all right, I’m going to do that … I support him 100 percent. In New York they can run you in the ground with all that attention. I’m there to just let him know that when it’s good, it’s great.”
