Chandler Parsons has thrived with the Rockets since being selected in the second round in 2011. He’ll be a restricted free agent this summer, meaning the Rockets can match any offer he receives. It’s unlikely the team will let him walk away, and that seems just fine with Parsons.

Parsons’ devotion to the Rockets could heavily work to the team’s advantage this summer. The Rockets can clear serious cap room by moving Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik and some other pieces, but once Parsons signs an offer sheet with another team, the Rockets will likely be forced to match and lose most of the new-found cap space. However, if he holds off on signing a sheet until Houston’s spends its money on another star player, the Rockets will later be able to go over the salary cap to re-sign Parsons. Houston could be major winners for the third straight offseason (Harden in ’12, Howard in ’13), but it could all go out the window if Parsons signs quickly.
