Charlotte Bobcats Hire Patrick Ewing as Associate Coach

Michael Jordan has reportedly hired his buddy Patrick Ewing, giving him the fancy title of associate coach (a glorified assistant coach, in other words) for the Charlotte Bobcats. This was an expected move once Steve Clifford came on board as the head coach. Per Yahoo! Sports: “Ewing will join the coaching staff of new Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford. Ewing and Clifford have a strong professional and personal history together. Sacramento Kings coach Mike Malone also tried to hire Ewing for his coaching staff. Before sitting out the 2012-13 season, Ewing had worked eight seasons as an NBA assistant coach, including in Orlando (2008-12) and Houston (2003-08). Ewing was an assistant on each staff with Clifford. Ewing interviewed for the Bobcats’ head-coaching job in 2012, but ultimately Mike Dunlap was hired. Ewing also interviewed for the Detroit Pistons’ head-coaching job in 2011.”
