CP3 in China, Day 1

The people of China may not share America’s love for burgers or fries (yet), but they definitely cultivated a passion for basketball. Chris Paul is spending the week among China’s provinces and prefectures, running camps and meeting with the local communities. Never a dude to waste a minute, CP3 is getting down by sending daily recaps and photos. Fresh from Tianjin, China, we present the CP3 China Diary, Day 1…–Ed.

It’s the first full day of my time here in China. I just finished teaching drills and showing the kids moves that will help them in game situations. These are some of the best point guards in all of China. Amazing.

They even named a camp after me calling it the Chris Paul Elite Point Guard Camp. To come all the way to China, a 14-hour flight, and be treated with an overwhelming welcome to know that these talented players watch my game and learn from me is humbling.

I played 1-on-1 with some of the kids and they made me WORK! The level of play and intensity these players have is crazy. I’m sure with continued hard work and determination we may see a few of these players in the League one day.

We’re off to Guangzhou (2 1/2-hour flight) where I’ll get to see more of China’s basketball talent, interact with fans and launch my Jordan CP3.II shoe (China Edition).
