Dan Gilbert: LeBron Not Dictating Front-Office Moves

The Cavs’ owner told the world yesterday that his superstar isn’t calling the shots in Cleveland. Something, of course, that no one believes. From the Akron Beacon Journal: “Gilbert adamantly denied Tuesday that James is dictating the front-office decisions of the Cavaliers. In his most pointed comments yet, the Cavs owner said James will not be consulted in the coaching search and labeled such conjecture as unfair to both James and the franchise. ‘The concept that LeBron James has been involved in any way, shape or form with firing our head coach, involved in the transition of General Manager Chris Grant and will be involved in future coaching decisions and hires is totally, 100 percent and patently false,’ Gilbert said. ‘He is a basketball player and a great one and his interests are aligned with our interests. But this concept that this franchise has been handed to a player who is running it and making the decisions is just completely and totally false. You’ve got to put an end to [the rumors] sooner or later.”’
