When Lakers rookie D’Angelo Russell tweeted that Tracy McGrady might have been the greatest of all time, a history lesson from Kobe Bryant was all but forthcoming.

The now emoji-friendly Mamba indeed checked his 19-year-old protege with a simple response on twitter.

Not wanting to be in the legend’s doghouse, Russell quickly apologized to KB.

Kobe laughed off the whole exchange, replying to the rookie, “Let’s shock the world this season.”

And with that encouraging message, Russell answered back with three “100” emojis.
