Denver Nuggets and Detroit Pistons Targeting Andre Iguodala

Free agent forward Andre Iguodala’s list of suitors this summer, reportedly includes the Denver Nuggets (his team last season, and the front-runner for his services going forward) and the Detroit Pistons. Per NBA.com: “Among those expected to come at the 29-year-old Olympian and 2012 All-Star hardest, according to sources, is the Detroit Pistons, who will have significant cap room—more than $20 million—to fill their small forward hole. The Pistons are interested in both Iguodala and Hawks free agent Josh Smith, who will also be in great demand when the free agent signing period starts at midnight. Smith is likely to leave Atlanta, with several teams, including Milwaukee and Dallas, expected to vie for his services. Detroit took Georgia shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with the eighth pick overall in the first round of the Draft last week, but needs a long-term solution at small forward after trading veteran Tayshaun Prince to Memphis as part of the three-team deal that sent Rudy Gay to Toronto. Iguodala opted out of the final year of his max deal with the Nuggets earlier this month, leaving $15.9 million on the table to become an unrestricted free agent. He said earlier this month that he needed time to absorb the impact of the team’s firing of George Karl. After Denver hired longtime assistant coach Brian Shaw a couple of weeks ago, Iguodala said he had heard ‘nothing but good things’ about Shaw from former players.”
