Does Kevin Durant Hate Money?

by Marcel Mutoni

-Please, someone, explain this one to me: Kevin Durant took a $60 million deal from Nike with a $10 million signing bonus. However, he reportedly turned down a $70 million deal with a $12 million signing bonus from adidas. How does one do that exactly? I’m getting upset just thinking about it.

-Meanwhile, people in Seattle continue to hate the Sonics’ owners.

-Udonis Haslem thinks the Heat will be juuuuust fine.

“People still forget two years ago this was a championship team,” Haslem said. “Make no mistake about it, you’re only as good as your last performance. We really didn’t perform well down the stretch.”

“The talent is still here. The skill level is still here. The hunger is still here. We’ve just got to maintain our focus, come in ready and everybody at 100 percent and we’ll be fine.”

(The drugs in Miami must be amazing. I need to go there.)

-Darko likes his chances in Memphis.

“I’m on a team that wants to run, and I want to run and I’m glad to be here,” said Milicic.

“I was the second pick (in the 2003 NBA draft) but I never got to show what I can do and to play the game I can play,” he said, calling his three years in Detroit “like a nightmare to me.”

(Darko, it was like a nightmare for the rest of us, too.)
