Houston Rockets center avoided some legal trouble from back home in Atlanta, as police elected not to press charges of child abuse against the big fella.
A criminal investigation was opened last November by the Florida Department of Children and Families, but no charges came forward.
The mother of one of Howard’s children alleged that Dwight had bruised their then six-year-old son.
Per the Houston Chronicle:
“We have investigated this case and are not moving forward with charges,” Atlanta Police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon. said via email.
“We are gratified that the Atlanta Police Department, after fully examining the frivolous allegations against Dwight Howard, has closed the case and decided not to proceed with charges,” Howard’s attorney David Oscar Markus said in a statement. “Dwight Howard will continue to act in the best interest of his children and do whatever is necessary to protect their welfare.”
Howard’s attorney filed a motion for contempt and enforcement to sanction Howard’s former girlfriend Royce Reed for releasing private information about a child. In November, Howard filed a motion seeking sole custody of the boy, a motion still in litigation.
