Gerald Wallace set to Opt-Out with the Nets

After trading what ultimately turned out to be this year’s number six Draft pick for Gerald Wallace, the Nets now find themselves in danger of losing Wallace to another team. It has been reported that Wallace will opt-out of his final year with the Nets in search of a longer and more stable contract. While Wallace and his support group will certainly be fielding offers from other teams, there is a good chance that he will sign re-sign with the Nets, so says Charlotte Observer writer Rick Bonnell via Twitter. While the Nets and their fanbase have high hopes heading into Brooklyn, things have certainly gotten off on the wrong foot with the potential departures of Deron Williams and Gerald Wallace. If both of them walk, the Nets will have a depleted roster and will be ushering in a new era without a star player–Welcome to Brooklyn, indeed.
