Gregg Popovich: ‘Drake and I are Tight’

Both Gregg Popovich and Drake earned coaching victories during NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto, and the San Antonio Spurs’ legendary bench boss claims to be “tight” with the rap superstar.

Popovich and Aubrey were shown dapping each other up following the Western Conference’s triumph Sunday night against the East.

What a time to be alive, indeed.

Per the Express-News:

Pop and Champagne Papi met on the sidelines after the Western Conference beat the East, 196-173 at the Air Canada Centre in Drake’s native Toronto. He welcomed the Spurs’ feared leader with an informal dap and managed to get a smile out of him.

Coach Popovich was in town to of course lead the Western Conference while Drake returned to Toronto to bask in his hometown love and coach the Celebrity All-Star Game. In a press conference prior to the game, Pop was asked if he had any concerns about the rapper out-coaching him, according to Fox Sports. […] To which he took the opportunity to respond with the usual Pop humor, “Drake and I are tight. We don’t compete (with) each other too much.”

Calling Pop’s bluff, another reporter asked what Drake track is his favorite. […] “I’m not gonna say that Donald Trump thing,” Pop said with a chuckle in a CBS Sports Radio video, presumably referring to the Republican Presidential candidates Saturday Night Live parody of Drake’s hit song, “Hotline Bling.”
