John Wall Got Cut on the Eyeball and Could ‘Barely See’ in Game 3

John Wall’s offensive struggles continued on Friday in the Wizards’ lopsided Game 3 defeat. Wall said after the game that he could “barely see” after getting hit in the eye by Lance Stephenson during the third quarter. Per CSN Washington:

To add to John Wall’s problems shooting the ball in this series with the Indiana Pacers, he now has an injury to his right eye. “I barely could see after I got hit in the eye,” he said. “I got a cut on my eye so I had to put contacts in to get the medicine to cover the cut.”

It’s not visible. It’s actually on the eyeball and it caused excessive blinking. Wall said it bothered him since the third quarter and it was responsible for him missing 3 of 6 free throws. He’s shooting 34% from the field, 40-for-117, in this series that the Wizards trail 2-1 going into Sunday’s Game 4 at Verizon Center (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET).

Wall, who had a playoff-high seven turnovers in the 85-63 Game 3 loss, said the injury occurred on a drive to the basket and he was hit by Lance Stephenson.

His eye should be OK by Sunday. Wall can’t afford another blow to it but such an occurrence would be very unlikely.
