Jordan Farmar Wants Out of L.A.

Farmar made it pretty clear yesterday that he’s tired of playing a supporting role, as the OC Register reports: “It’s no surprise that Jordan Farmar wants to play more and play in a more traditional point-guard system. ‘I need to establish myself as somebody who can lead a team,’ Farmar said Tuesday. So it’s obvious that Farmar will be looking for a new job when he becomes a restricted free agent July 1 and can negotiate with other teams. The Lakers can match any offer Farmar receives but aren’t inclined to add to their payroll, which lessens chances Farmar will be back or even be used in a sign-and-trade swap. Derek Fisher, Shannon Brown and Farmar are all in line to be free agents, and Farmar said Fisher is ‘probably the front-runner to come back here and play.’ Farmar said getting to mimic the work of Russell Westbrook, Deron Williams, Steve Nash and Rajon Rondo through the Lakers’ postseason in practices running the scout team reminded him of how familiar it was to be in a one-guard front where he could dominate the ball. That is not the triangle offense.”
