Kevin Durant: ‘I Think I Gotta Lose Some Weight to Be Honest’

Kevin Durant has been in Oklahoma City since having foot surgery in March, but he stopped by the Orlando Summer League to check out the Thunder team.

Royce Young of ESPN had a conversation with KD yesterday—you can read the whole feature here—which covered free agency, his injury, and more. But perhaps the most interesting quote from Durant was about his weight. Young notes that KD looked noticeably bigger in stature, but that Durant says it’s because he hasn’t been able to get much cardio in while he’s been sidelined.

Durant says he’s on track for an August return at full strength.

Check it out:

Durant, who has always been known for his slim physique, looked noticeably bigger. He had been in a walking boot up until a few weeks ago and only recently has been able to increase his workout activity.

“I think I gotta lose some weight to be honest,” he said. “But I’ve been putting in a lot of work in the weight room. I haven’t moved at all for 12 or 13 weeks, so last week was really the first time I’ve got on the court and dropped some sweat. I’ve just been working out in the weight room and eating and just resting up, so like I said last week was really the first time I got on the court.”
