Kobe Bryant is a Little Nervous and Full of Rage

Coming into 19th NBA year, 36-year old Kobe Bryant is a feeling an unfamiliar mix of emotions.

Having sat out most of the last two seasons, Bryant admits to feeling a bit unsure about playing up to his own exacting standards.

Kobe says he’ll have to be more cautious than ever with the maintenance and care of his body.

Per the OC Register:

“It’s a mixture of things,” Bryant said when asked to describe his emotions coming into the year. “It’s a mixture of excitement, it’s a mixture of a little nervousness, it’s a mixture of rage. … I’m trying to see if I can prove to myself that I can be myself. All those words and the doubts adds fuel to that.”

Bryant is coming off a season in which he broke a bone in his left knee just six games after returning from a torn Achilles’ tendon. Bryant said he “didn’t know what to expect” going into and throughout last season. […] “Every day it was a process to figure out what you can and can’t do and when are you going to come back,” he said. “Now there are questions but they don’t center around health.”

“In the past I’ve always pushed myself to limit and that’s every day,” he said. “Now I just have to be a little bit more patient and make sure that when you step off the court you still have something left.”
